February Intentions
What came true in January + why I'm taking a disciplined approach to this month
At the beginning of the year, I was inspired to start a new monthly ritual: to treat all firsts like January 1st.
I kicked things off with this post, where I shared my January intentions—a short, not-too-serious list of things I wanted to prioritize. It has only been a month, way too early to call this experiment a game-changer, but I can’t ignore the initial results!
In revisiting my list, I was elated to see that I honored every one of my intentions!
Starting the day with a cup of hot water and lemon was both soothing and a good reminder to make healthy choices.
I finished the third draft of my book, and the fourth is well underway.
We experienced record-breaking low temperatures in Florida and enjoyed some time in front of my parents’ fireplace, plus bonus cozy moments with my sister, who unexpectedly ended up visiting for a couple of weeks during the LA fires.
I started Heather Robertson’s new workout series and signed up for a dance class (more below!).
This starburst image was undoubtedly the big exclamation point on the very last day of the month, spent with my mastermind partners Lauren and Kalyn. We had such a fun day, sandwiched around a powerful journaling session that absolutely shook things up for me—in the best way.
The month was filled with even more creative meetups: watercolor sessions with my mom and sister, drawing with my nieces and nephew, a book and coffee date with my local friends, a catch-up with another group of creative masterminds, and a couple more with my writing group.
When I looked at this photo, I thought, ah, this is the one I missed, because my bathroom drawers still need spiffying. But then I read my written intention: “home organization so things feel lighter,” and I absolutely did this in the kitchen, with a full refrigerator and pantry cleanout.
I tried out some new looks from my Rent the Runway subscription, including inadvertently ordering a bag that looks nearly identical to the one on my 2025 vision board. 🤯
This one also made me laugh. The heat in my home office hasn’t been working, and the fixer-people aren’t available to look at it until this week, which meant I spent most of the month working from the couch in our loft, right next to a cozy lamp (literally the only one we have in our house outside of the bedrooms).
My word of the month, NOVEL, also rang true as I made significant strides with my book and tried a bunch of new things, including classes, recipes, two new restaurants, a bookstore, outfits, books, movies, and we stayed at a new hotel.
From my Watch / Read / Eat / Experience list, I:
Saw the movie A Complete Unknown
Read Colored Television by Danzy Senna.
Made and ate Love and Lemons’ Lentil Soup, which was delicious.
Started tap dancing classes! Bonus: My mom joined in last week too!
Needless to say, I’m riding high and excited to share my new intentions and a new mood board for February, inviting you to do the same. The remainder of this post is dedicated to paid supporters, both as a thank-you and as a safe space to share your intentions if you wish.
