I read Mandy when I was a kid! I don't remember a lot about it though. I think in my head I always confused it with The Little Princess.
I hope your plants turn out well! I always admire people that have green thumbs. Like Emily Gilmore tinkering around with her beautiful flowers out back haha :)
It is so much like The Little Princess! With less angst. 😂 LOVE the Emily Gilmore visual. I think I need a gardener though. So far I’m not seeing any growth. 🤦🏻♀️
I pulled a few books off my shelf from my childhood/teenage years, but the first one I decided to read was "Ray Bradbury Presents Dinosaur World" by Stephen Leigh. It's Leigh's continuation of a short story by Ray Bradbury. I haven't read the short story, but I got the book at a joint birthday party I had with a friend. It was a gift from someone who had been invited by the other birthday girl. She was someone I knew but wasn't super close with. I wanted to reread this book, because it seemed like I really enjoyed it (I wrote my name across the page edges), but have no distinct memories of the plot of the story. It is a time travel story that involves a group of teens traveling back to the time of dinosaurs and having to figure out how to survive and how to get back to their own time. It was definitely a fun story, but I am still not sure what caused me to keep it around for all these years.
I also decided to continue the walk down memory lane by rereading the other books I have kept from my childhood. So next up was "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O'Dell and I am almost finished with it.
I love everything about this Raye! I'm especially intrigued by the origin -- the way things come into our lives is so interesting. Your illustration is so fun and helped bring the story more to life in my mind. Now I have another time travel book to add to my to-read list. 😂 Also, Island of the Blue Dolphins! An ultimate throwback!
What a delight! So many good books from childhood but the majority of books in my hand in the summer were Goosebumps or Babysitters Club!
I would so love to indulge in a Babysitters Club re-read-through!

For the creative project, I designed/lettered a logo for the company in the story that runs the time travel adventures, Time Safari Inc. You can see the design here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rercgdksel0yp007bdukj/Dinosaur_World_Logo.jpg?rlkey=qz8yt1zgzez43y0h1r2t0kwm7&dl=0
