What a simple pleasure...fresh tomatoes at your table. Both my sister and best friend have had an abundance of tomatoes from their gardens. Many different varieties and I have been enjoying them. When I was younger, I would help my Grandma plant her field with tomato seeds. Watching the plants grow and bloom was the easy part. When they became ripe, we would pick buckets of them and then stand at the kitchen sink preparing the ripe tomatoes for canning. Eating a fresh tomato takes me back to a lovely, special time with my Grandma.

What a beautiful memory, Ann! I love how food can connect us with family and friends, even when they've passed on. I often think of my grandparents, great aunts and great uncles when I'm in the kitchen.

You should definitely try that Oreo ice cream cake—my mom used to make it and it is pretty fantastic. (And I'm not really a fan of ice cream cakes. 😆 )

I’ve been irrationally craving Oreos for the last two weeks. I think it needs to happen!

My now 6yo requested an ice cream cake for his birthday and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was! And I love that it keeps in the freezer so it lasts longer. :)

The best part! We ate that cake all week. Curious to hear if the request for an ice cream cake will become a tradition for your little guy!

You always give the best book recommendations. I added both those time-travel novels to my TBR!
